Summer Reading

 

The New SHS Summer Reading  2008 ! 

SHS is teaming-up with the One Book, One Region initiative for Eastern CT to read.

Assignment: You are required to read TWO books.

1. Read the One Book, One Region choice Life is So Good by George Dawson and Richard Glaubman

2. A second book, either Poetry 180, A Turning Back to Poetry selected by Billy Collins or a book of your choice.
***You MAY NOT use any of the titles listed below as they are part of the SHS curriculum. ( See below.)

What you have to bring to school on Literacy Day (Wednesday, September 3, 2008) in order to share your summer reading experience and get a “Pass” on your report card:

1.For any book read other than the poetry book: Select two sections of text, ten lines or longer, and copy them out on an index card. Include the page number, book title, and author’s name. Write a five sentence (or more) paragraph explaining why you selected this section of text.

2.For the book of poetry do the following:
Select two poems and write them out on a separate sheet of paper. Then write a five sentence or more paragraph explaining why you selected this poem.
